General Schedule BASIC REQUIREMENTS: IN ORDER TO BE DETERMINED QUALIFIED FOR THE GENERAL ENGINEER, GS-801 APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING BASIC REQUIREMENTS: DEGREE IN PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE...COLLEGE LEVEL EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE THAT FURNISHED (1) A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE PHYSICAL AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES UNDERLYING PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING, AND (2) A GOOD UNDERSTANDING, BOTH THEORETICAL AND PRACTCAL OF THE ENGINEERING SCIENCES AND TECHNIQUES AND THEIR APPLICATIONS TO ONE OF THE BRANCHES OF ENGINEERING. THE ADEQUACY OF SUCH BACKGROUND MUST BE DEMONSTRATED BY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION, WRITTEN TEST, SPECIFIED ACADEMIC COURSES OR RELATED CURRICULUM.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have one year of specialized experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to at least the GS-13 level or equivalent. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledges, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position such as: (1) Knowledge of project management, and systems engineering and integration to ensure the success of developing and prototyping equipment to support the warfighter. (2) Broad knowledge and experience in science and engineering associated with design, development, test and evaluation of platform systems.
(3) Knowledge of performing, planning, conducting, and directing pioneering work in the synthesis, definition, development and evaluation of evolutionary and revolutionary concepts and technologies for platform and payload applications.
Surplus/displaced Federal Civil Service employees must be rated well-qualified in order to be considered under the ICTAP programs. In order to be rated well qualified for this position, you must be rated well qualified (90/above minus veteran's preference) to be considered under ICTAP
